Thursday, July 28, the 20th anniversary season of the Sunset Concerts series at The Skirball Cultural Center continues with Sudanese-American singer and multi-instrumentalist Sinkane. The Brooklyn-based artist is expected to perform tracks from his forthcoming 2017 album as well as tunes from his extensive catalogue.

Oakland's Fantastic Negrito (Xavier Dphrepaulezz), releases a heavy new track off the highly anticipated, soon to be released debut album The Last Days of Oakland, from Blackball Universe. Part blues, part funk and dripping with soul, Hump Thru the Winter paints a portrait of struggle many know too well.

The latest Afropunk mixtape jumps right into an already stirred pot with its latest title, AFROPUNK Mixtape #015: Where's My Nina Simones? Where's My James Baldwins At?, including tracks by Adia Victoria, Santigold, Pure Hell, Mickey Lightfoot, The Heavy and Nina Simone among others. Stream the 20 track mix in full below.

There's some good news for the people of Southern California as music and arts festival AFROPUNK just announced its coming to LA. It was revealed today that AFROPUNK LA is set to take place Thursday, October 22nd between 8pm and midnight at a currently undisclosed location under the banner "The Most Wicked Party: LA". The popular Los Angeles venue is revealed after you RSVP. The event lineup includes performances by Mykki Blanco, LE1F, letlive., and AFROPUNK Atlanta Battle of the Bands winners Samurai Shotgun.

Check out Queens-bred emcee/soul artist Dynasty's debut album, "A Star in Life's Clothing", which features guest appearances & production from hip-hop heavyweights like Talib Kweli & DJ Premier among others. The project would stand solid on its own but excels with the additional support.
