David Allen Grier joins Latifah, Blige & Mills in NBC reboot of "The Wiz"

UPDATE: NBC has found it's Dorothy in 18-year-old New Jersey native Shanice Williams who has a background in musical theater.

NBC recently revealed plans to reboot the musical "The Wiz", the 1978 Diana Ross led adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz" co-produced by Berry Gordy's Motown film division. In addition to Ross, the original cast also included a young Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor, Lena Horne, and Nipsey Russell. "The Wiz" once weighed in as the most expensive film-musical ever made ($24 million).

Janelle, Jidenna & The Wondaland Camp's Secret "Eephus" Tour

It looks like Prince's recent secret tour concept has caught on. The Wondaland camp of Janelle Monáe, Jidenna, Deep Cotton, St. Beauty, and Roman GianArthur have announced an 8 date tour of secret (free) shows accross the country, including three stops along the West Coast. These shows are invite-only, but you can enter your name and email for a chance to win.

Jill Scott's "Woman" Album Art & Release Date

When Jill Scott announced her 25-date summer tour last month, she mentioned that in addition to her staples, she'd be performing music from an upcoming fifth full-length studio album. While no details were available at the time, she recently came forth with an album title ("Woman"), release date (July 24th) and album artwork.

D'Angelo & The Vanguard Baptized Los Angeles in the Funk

D'Angelo and The Vanguard at Club Nokia, Los Angeles for the second night of "The Second Coming Tour" on June 8th, 2015. D'Angelo performed songs from his catalog with special attention paid to the most recent release, Black Messiah, now available on iTunes and Amazon from RCA Records. Jill Scott Announces Summer Tour Dates

This week Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jill Scott announced the dates for a summer 2015 tour. The 25 date tour will start on July 13th in Pittsburgh, PA and wrap up August 28th in Phoenix, AZ. Jilly will be performing new music from her upcoming album as well as many of her classic hits.

D’Angelo Drops “Sugah Daddy,” His First Single In 15 Years

D’Angelo just premiered “Sugah Daddy”, his first official single in 15 years through Red Bull’s 20 Before 15.
