Trinidadian soca star Nailah Blackman is kicking off a new era with her latest single, Feels Like Love, featuring OVO Sound's Roy Woods. Out now via Big Money Records, the dancehall-infused R&B track sets the stage for her upcoming album, Born A Diamond (B.A.D.), arriving in late 2025.
Produced by Jakey Krumm and Hunter Tomeo, the song was first teased in a December freestyle for On The Radar before officially arriving with a Toronto-shot music video, paying homage to Woods' hometown.
"Feels Like Love feels like me moving into a new era," says Blackman. "My Caribbean identity has always been strong, but this is a different flavor for me. And, of course, I'm collaborating with a Guyanese artist, with Roy Woods being Guyanese."
The release follows a whirlwind Trinidad & Tobago Carnival season for Nailah, where she performed nightly at multiple fetes. Carnival runs in her blood—her grandfather, Garfield "Lord Shorty" Blackman, invented soca music, the genre fueling the celebration. She also hosted the sixth edition of her Sokah Origins concert, introducing the Born A Diamond concept.
"A diamond is created over time," Nailah explains. "I was born into a family of musicians, and there was never a time I knew anything else. It symbolizes my journey in music and life."
Her second full-length album, Born A Diamond follows 2022's Teknique and marks her first release with Philadelphia-based Big Money Records. Feels Like Love follows her 2024 hits Pressure and Miss Continental featuring Nigeria's DJ Obi.
Nailah is set for a busy tour schedule, with stops at DC Carnival on April 12, Roots Picnic in Philadelphia (May 31-June 1), plus shows in Jamaica, New York, Toronto, and Las Vegas.
