What is there to say about Chuck Fenda that his nickname Da Living Fire doesn't describe? He straight up brings the heat when he hits the stage. Last night at the Nectar Lounge in Seattle, Chuck brought his A-game and had the crowd in the palm of his hand. Backed by The Lightcode Band, he and Jubba White both sounded incredible.
From his opening song, "All About the Weed," during which he also sang Richie Spice's song "Youth Them Cold," to his anthem "Gash Dem," Chuck was really feeling the crowd. The turnout at Nectar wasn't as big as it could have been, but everyone in attendance was all in on the show. It's been a while since I've seen an artist get the kind of call and response he was getting last night. I've seen Chuck several times over the last 20 years and he never disappoints; however, last night's show was exceptional. While he has no problem holding down a festival stage, he really shined in the club atmosphere at Nectar. His energy and love are something to behold and feel.
The Lightcode Band from Eugene, OR came up to support Chuck and Jubba White and they performed a set of their own to start the live show after DJ Element finished his time on the decks. Once they started playing, the show never stopped, with Jubba White taking over and wooing the crowd with his beautiful voice and uplifting songs. Everyone sounded great and you would never know that The Lightcode Band isn't Chuck Fenda's official band. They had every song dialed and caught all of Chuck's cues like the pros they are.
If you get the chance to catch Chuck Fenda and Jubba White on the Can't Stop the Fire tour or anywhere else, I highly recommend doing so. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for the great show, Chuck!!
