The canceled Sierra Nevada World Music Festival will not refund ticket holders, leaving many patrons frustrated and seeking reimbursement. The festival, which was set to feature major reggae acts like Koffee and Steel Pulse, was announced as canceled on June 16, just days before its start, due to "extreme financial challenges."
Despite months of silence, a July 14 statement revealed that the festival couldn't afford refunds due to poor ticket sales and already spent funds on pre-event costs. Many ticket holders, some who spent over $1,000, have filed complaints with the California attorney general.
The festival offered a discount for Reggae on the River, another event, but many found it too late or unsatisfactory. SNWMF management has not responded to legal inquiries or provided further details on their efforts to mitigate the situation.
