I had seen Ginjah a few weeks ago at the *Dub'N The Creek* festival and while his voice sounded great and he brought a ton of energy, I had the impression that Ginjah's would really shine when performing with a live band. And, I was right on point. With the Fire Marshall Sounds band backing him, Ginjah came out of the gate with his incredible voice on fire. Right from the jump, it was clear that the ladies love Ginjah. As I looked around the crowd, every gal in the place was smiling and wide-eyed. And who could blame them? It's clear Ginjah has been influenced by some of the great soul and reggae singers. And, he can hold his own with the best of them. My favorite part of the show was when Ginjah sang *Kingly Character* by the legend Garnett Silk followed by his own *Soul Man* ([video](https://sensimedia.net/video) below). Like I said, he can hold his own with the greats, and he absolutely killed *Kingly Character*. It's a bold move to sing a Garnett Silk song but Ginjah sang it to perfection, making me momentarily forget it wasn't one of his originals. And then the fact that he went into my favorite song of his in *Soul Man* made the moment even better. Later in the show, Ginjah performed (for the first time) *Propose*. While singing directly to one of the ladies in the audience, he had the crowd enthralled and it was an amazing first showing of what is sure to be another Ginjah hit. It wouldn't surprise me if he was once again in the running for a major music award with this song, having seen the way it impacts a crowd. I have a strong feeling, after talking with Ginjah a couple days later, that this song will see major global success, particularly in Africa. In the current reggae climate, Ginjah seems to be filling a niche that not many have occupied for a while. His modern lovers-rock style is one that people around the world crave and after seeing him at Nectar Lounge the other night I can see why. He has an all-time voice, his stage presence is powerful, and his energy is infectious. I had the chance to interview Ginjah a couple days after the show and I left the interview with an increased level of interest and respect, in addition to an admiration for Ginjah the person.
